Mr. Mac Arthur is the Head of Senior School at St John's College Changchun. Coming from the UK, he completed his Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Sheffield University and is now working towards his MEd Educational Leadership and Management Degree at University of Buckingham. Mr. Mac Arthur has a wealth of experience in educational leadership in China, with previous posts in international schools in Hangzhou and Foshan. He has been responsible for managing the delivery of the IGCSE and A Level curriculum, leading a cross cultural team, assessing teaching quality and establishing a pastoral care system. He also has deep understanding in English teaching, being a TESOL trainer and with IDLTM and CELTA qualifications. Mr. Mac Arthur believes in the tremendous value that an international style education brings to the lives of pupils and aims to cultivate pupils with confidence, independence, strong communication skills and problem-solving spirit. In his private life, Mr. Mac Arthur enjoys rock climbing, SCUBA diving and football.......

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Room 9. My name is Mr. Mac and I am very pleased to be teaching Grade 3/4 at New Dundee Public School this year. We are going to have a great year! Our Weekly Schedule, Calendar, and Links to Student Work that the class is learning and sharing will all be available here.

I hope your family had a great summer, and that you are as excited as I am that school is starting back up. We will begin the year getting to know each other, and learning how to be good citizens at school, and digitally.

Please send in a pair of indoor shoes, pencils, pencil crayons, a ruler and a pencil case with your child for school. In addition please send in a box of tissues, we share these and make use of them throughout the school year.

We have gym everyday, and most days students have an opportunity to visit the library to exchange books.

Students will have opportunities to have some choice in what they will learn about when we do Self-Directed Learning in class. Students call this “Awesome Ideas” time. Please ask your child about their first project as we get started with “Awesome Ideas” this month.
